My Five Favorite Pregnancy and Birth Podcast

My Top 5 Favorite Pregnancy and Birth Podcast

In today's technology filled world we have so many ways to get information, hear stories, and connect with others. While I still haven't managed to get on board with things like reading books on a tablet,  I'm totally on board with podcast! There are seemingly endless podcast channels available that cover a vast amount of topics and interest, which makes listening to podcast an easy and fun way to expand your thinking, increase your knowledge, and find relatable and interesting information.

Some of my favorite podcast, unsurprisingly, are pregnancy and birth related. It's so great to be able to hear birth stories, listen to up to date information regarding pregnancy and birth, and learn from some of the most knowledgeable people in the field, all while cooking dinner or cleaning the bathroom! I'm going to share with you my top five favorite, and give you a quick rundown of what they discuss.

1. Birthful
Birthful is a podcast created by Adriana Lozada. She is a doula from New York, and has a passion for sharing mother-centered care with expecting and new parents. Her podcast covers everything from birth stories about an empowered cesarean birth, to postpartum hormones, and rethinking the pushing stage. She even offers dads perspective, interviews other birth professionals, and gives thoughts on new pregnancy and postpartum guidelines.  Her podcast is thoughtful, thought provoking, and inspiring. It is definitely one of my top 5 favorite podcast!

2. The Birth Hour
The Birth hour is a podcast ran by a mother named Bryn who is passionate about sharing birth stories with her podcast listeners. Her stories are not limited to a certain type of birth, but rather cover the vast array of choices, options, and scenarios that lead to becoming a parent. She features hospital, home birth, cesarean, adoption, surrogacy, infertility, loss, and the list goes on. Her podcast is refreshing and informative. It provides a wonderful collection of positive stories to hep you learn, relate, and explore the possibilities of what becoming a parent may look like for you. It is a must listen!

3. Delivering Strength
Delivering strength is a podcast designed to help women learn to advocate for themselves by exploring pregnancy, birth, and postpartum health. It is ran by two moms that happen to be  fellow Ohioans. They explore topics such as prenatal test and their alternatives, prenatal yoga, and building your birth team. While this podcast is newer, it is proving to be a wonderful resource for new and expecting parents!

4. Evidence Based Birth
The Evidence Based Birth Podcast, or EBB, as it's titled on the podcast stations, is a new podcast created by the amazing people behind the Evidence Based Birth website. Like the website, the podcast shares information with families that is based on accurate research surrounding pregnancy and birth. Topics of discussion vary from aromatherapy in labor, to  birthing positions, and pain management in labor. There is a wealth of knowledge being delivered with the EBB podcast, and it's another must listen for expecting parents!

5.Mom & Mind
Mom and Mind is a little different than the other podcast. This podcast focuses on mental health struggles surrounding becoming pregnant, pregnancy, birth, and being a new parent. While discussing mental health isn't always a fun topic, it's so important to talk about. The podcast is ran by Dr. Katayune Kaeni, a psychologist from California that specializes in maternal Mental Health and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She does a phenomenal job at bringing to light the things that are not always discussed by your care providers or community, but should absolutely be discussed!
